Aloha my wonderful merfolk!
Today is fashion Friday and is also over a week since we found out about the death of Alan Rickman from Cancer. I have been a Harry Potter fan or as long as I can remember. I love the books, I love the films, I love the games; I adore the whole franchise. I was incredibly saddened by Alan Rickman’s death.
Although this post will include some of Leslies rule breakers, I wanted to do this Disneybound post last week but already had a Fashion Friday post scheduled, so thought I would do one this week, now all of us Potterheads have had time to accept that Alan is gone and Severus Snape will live on, always.
Firstly and aptly, we have two Severus Snape Disneybounds. The first is an example of how to do a casual Snape Disneybound. A pair of black jeans, a black vest or blouse, teamed with a smart blazer or cardigan and you have your staples. Next, add some black and silver jewellery, or even better, some doe or potions related jewellery and your casual Snape Disneybound is complete. For a more dressed up look, find your favourite little black dress and team it with a pair of black heeled courts, a black cardigan and a black clutch bag (or shoulder bag if you are not comfortable holding a bag all night). Once again, add doe ro snake feature jewellery and your outfit will be complete.
Bellatrix Lesrange, Voldemorts last best lieutenant, is another easy, go to Harry Potter Disneybound for the alternative wardrobe as it consists of all black and skulls. Again, it all just depends on what look you wish to go for and whether you want to be casual or more formal. For a casual Bellatrix Disneybound, try a pair of black tailored shorts with a nice black top or blouse. Add a pair of black tights and ankle boots or converse. For a more formal Bellatrix look, pull out your little black dress once again and team it with a pair of heeled boots or courts. For those colder months, add a black cardigan or blazer. For both the casual and the formal looks, add skull or snake jewellery.
An Albus Dumbledore Disneybound brings a little sprinkle of colour to this Alternative Disneybound post. A mixture of light purple/almost grey and grey tones will make for the perfect Dumbledore. A casual dress and some brogues in those colours, teamed with a long cardigan, a trilby and some phoenix jewellery and you will be on your way to walking down the street looking like Albus Dumbledore. If you are not a fan of dresses, try a grey pair of jeans or trousers with a light purple top or blouse.
Minerva McGonagall has to be one of my favourite Harry Potter characters. Her sass levels are through the roof and she genuinely seems like on of the smartest people in the wizarding world. This is once again another easy Disneybound for the alternative wardrobe as it is made up of all black items. As above, this can be interpreted as both formal and casual just by switching out a few items. Team a long black top with a pair of black leggings and ankle boots for a more casual look. To dress it up, wear a black dress with lace, a black blazer and a pair of smart, wedge boots. If the situation calls for it, wear a beautiful black fascinator or lacey hat to finish off the outfit.
Lord Voldemort is another all black ensemble that you can try. This time, add snake or snake skin accessories to make this Disneybound stand out from the rest.
The Dementors give you the chance to wear something more avante garde if you wish. Lots of black and grey lace and mesh material will give off the perfect Dementor style. Layers will also give a good Dementor effect. Skulls or Skeleton hand style jewellery will give the finishing touches to this Disneybound rule breaker.
Deatheaters are Voldemorts followers and again, are perfect for the alternative wardrobe. A lot of black and spiked/snake accessories make for the perfect Deatheater; casual or formal.
Moaning Myrtle was student who was killed by the Basilisk and is now, a ghost. Therefore, there is a lot of greyscale in this Disneybound, as well as ghost/skull/death orientated jewellery. Myrtle was also a Ravenclaw, so if you have anything Raven/Eagle orientated or even any Ravenclaw merchadise, add it to a casual Disneybound for that extra Harry Potter vibe.
Sirius Black, Harry Potters godfather, wore rather snazzy clothes once he escaped from Azkaban. A pair of black skinny jeans, a dark coloured blouse and a blazer; velvet if you have one. Team these with heeled/wedge brogues. The jewellery is up to you but something regal looking will work extremely well.
Finally, we have Nymphadora Tonks; the metamorphmagus who helps Harry leave the Dursleys in his fifth year. This look will add a bit of colour to your wardrobe but still stick with alternative vibe. Black ripped skinny jeans, biker boots, a raggy red t-shirt and a black cardigan will give you the perfect casual Tonks. For a more formal Tonks Disneybound, try a red dress, black tights, heeled boots and a black blazer. For both looks, a black over the shoulder bag will work brilliantly.
Do you like Harry Potter? Do you have a favourite character?
RIP ALAN RICKMAN ❤
