The Darkling Tag

Aloha my wonderful merfolk!

Today is Tag Tuesday, but instead of bringing you a Disney related tag, I thought I would do something a little bit different. Something that relates to the darker side in me.

Today I am doing the Darkling Tag. I saw this tag done on YouTube by Snowy Lowther and It’s Black Friday! Click on their names to view their videos! There are loads more for you to watch and enjoy on YouTube; just search Darkling Tag!

1. What is your favourite candle scent?

At the moment it is Hazelnut & Coffee from The Candle Factory – purchased at the Card Factory.

2.Do you have a favourite book?

My favourite book series is the Harry Potter series, hands down.

3.Are you a tea or coffee person?

I like both but I’d pick tea over coffee majority of the time..

4.What is your favourite brand and colour of lipstick?

At the moment I’m busy transitioning to cruelty free make-up however, before this, my favourite lipstick was from Avon Colourtrend in the shade Glitz

5.What is your favorite perfume/cologne?

I currently use Acqua di Gioia by Armani.

6.Do you have a celebrity crush?

I have a few and most would not be considered alternative in the slightest.

7.If you had to give up the color black, what color would you choose instead?

Blood Red or a Dark Purple

8.If you could change your name to a stereotypical 90s/2000s gothy name, what would it be?

I’ve always loved the name Raven, so I’d probably pick that.

9.What are your top three tips for surviving hot weather while black clad?

Same as Black Friday’s advice – dress down, bling up. Wear light fabrics such as fish nets and lace whilst donning yourself in wonderful gothic jewellery. You can watch Black Fridays video on dressing Goth in summer here.

10.What song will always make you happy (doesn’t have to be a goth band)?

Sissy That Walk by Ru Paul – not in the slightest bit Gothy.

On the more Gothy side; Cauldron of Cerridwen by Disjecta Membra

11.Are you active in the arts (ex. Play an instrument, paint, write, etc)?

I’d love to say that I am but at the moment it feels like I have the time. Even my blog is suffering a little bit right now (sorry merfolk!). Hopefully in summer, once I move house and I am in a happy environment, I will gain my motivation back to write not just my blog but other projects, to be creative and arty.

12.If you had a teacup or mug made inscribed just for you, what would you have it say?

Spooky Mermaid

13.What is your number one non-gothy hobby?

Gaming. I adore my PS3 but again, it’s finding the time to go on it.

14.If you could be a supernatural creature, what would it be & why?

Either a Vampire (so stereotypical I know but I’ve loved them since I was about 6 & started watching Buffy) or a mermaid.

15.What horror monster-based super power would you have?

At first I was thinking immortality, but I would hate having to watch all my friends and loved ones die whilst I stayed young … although the staying young part would be cool.

16.Do you feel confident or comfortable interacting with other Goths or gothy people (online or IRL)? Why or why not?

Online I feel fine but in real life I always feel like I’m not Goth enough to be around some of the alternative community. Plus, I don’t have many alternative friends in real life.

17. Which is more important for a look: Great hair or great makeup?

I’d say make-up although I’m not that awesome at it. I do enjoy doing my make-up on most days and I’m getting better. Majority of the time I’m working so my hair is just shoved up into a messy bun to keep it out of the way.

18.Is there something you wish there was more of in your subculture?

Personally for me, just more people in my area that I can easily get along with. I find it hard to make friends given my initial anxiety around new people. Does that count?

19.Care to share an embarrassing story related to your “darkliness“?

Not really. Maybe back when I was 13 and first decided that I was more pulled to the Goth side of things; dyed my hair black and wore some pretty questionable clothing. Then I left my Gothic side behind for years, which I think is just as embarrassing as I did it to fit in, not because it was what I wanted.

20.How are you at DIY?

I am rubbish but that’s only because I haven’t really tried. I think I might start that up once I’ve moved house – make it another project!

Quickly describe your ideal wedding.

A lovely Gothic church. I would be wearing white but my Bridesmaids would be wearing black or blood red or a really dark purple. Lots of candles. I’ve not really thought of music but I know I’d love my first dance to be to a piano version of Once Upon A Dream from Sleeping Beauty (not typically Goth I know but it’s a pretty song).

Confessional – True/False

I love watching cheesy romance films.

False. I really don’t like Romantic films.

I ALWAYS remember to wash off my makeup at night.

Majority of the times, True. Although cleansing, toning & moisturising I sometimes don’t do.

I sleep with plushies.

True; Stitch is always on my bed.

I wear non-black pyjamas most nights.

True. I don’t own any black pyjamas. I own mostly Disney ones.

I still listen to a boy band that had disbanded years ago.

True; I go through stages of missing the 90s so bad that I binge listen to my childhood favourites.

I think Andrew Eldritch is overrated.

Neither true or false as I don’t really listen to Sisters of Mercy … I maybe should though.

I don’t like vampires.

False. I love vampires.

I don’t like clubs.

True. I hate nightclubs. Much prefer just going to a pub where I can casually it with friends and have an actual conversation.

I’m dating a goth/darkly-inclined person.

False. My guy is not alternative, although does listen to some rock music on occasions.

I don’t enjoy graveyards.

False. I like graveyards. Especially the really old, elegant tombstones.  I always wonder what the persons life was like, how different life was back then etc etc.

Blood makes me queasy.

True and False; I’m ok at first aid for small wounds and watching horror movies but I’m unsure how I’d react to a lot of blood. the sound of snapping bones however makes me gag!

I’d sooner faint than pet a spider.

True! So so so true! Spiders make me feel sick!

I don’t like haunted houses.

False. I love the idea of Haunted Houses. I watch a tonne of programmes about the paranormal. However, I’m not sure how I’d actually react to staying in a haunted building.

I still browse Hot Topic’s clearance racks.

False. We don’t have Hot Topic in the UK.

I’ve never read Dracula.

True; I feel so ashamed.

I think “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” is a long & boring song.

False; I enjoy this song and actually have it on my phone.

I tag Daniela of SpikedBlackTee to do this tag as well as any other Spooky Mermaids out there!
