Aloha my wonderful merfolk!
Yesterday, ED92 released an article discussing the rumoured decorations and events that would take place during the 25th anniversary celebrations at Disneyland Paris. You can find that article here. Naturally, when this occurred, the Disney community on Twitter went mental, discussing what they liked about the rumours, what they disliked and what they wished they could have seen.
Of course, whenever there are rumours floating about the Twitter-sphere, you must take them with a pinch of salt until they are confirmed or denied by Disneyland Paris themselves. However, rumours start very good discussion points within the community and remind us all why we love Disneyland Paris so much and why the community is what it is.
Let’s start where ED92 does, with decorations!
‘The 25th will be draped in blue and white, reminiscent of the Resort’s 15th Anniversary, and hot on the heels of the acclaimed 60th Anniversary of Disneyland Resort in California.’
I really liked the decorations for the 15th Anniversary (that was my last trip prior to April this year), so to see them returning makes me very happy. I am a much bigger fan of silver than I am of gold so to see a rumour that the decorations will not be gold, makes me happy. Plus, silver is the colour of 25, so that makes more sense. It is also mentioned in the ED92 article that these decorations will light up at night. Again, this makes me extremely happy to read as nighttime decorations at Disneyland always look so magical.
Next, we move onto the parade.
‘The new Parade is setting up to be a big refresh. Inspired by the Happiness is Here Parade (Tokyo Disneyland) and Festival of Fantasy (Magic Kingdom), its 8 large floats mean just as many unforgettable memories.’
Below I shall insert a video of the Happiness is Here parade from Tokyo Disneyland and a video of the Festival of Fantasy from the Magic Kingdom.
I adore Magic on Parade, but, I understand why a new parade seems necessary after five years; especially as it’s a big anniversary for Disneyland Paris. Quarter of a century is nothing to be sniffed at, it’s a good feat. Having watched videos of both the parades mentioned in ED92’s article, I’m excited to see what Disneyland Paris bring us. I’ll be sad to see Magic on Parade go, but I’ll get over it, same as I did with Dancin’ A Catchy Rhythm.
I like the fact that there will be Steampunk elements in this parade and I especially like the rumour about Maleficent’s dragon coming to Disneyland Paris. As well as this, it seems that the Peter Pan, Toy Story, Lion King and Frozen floats will remain, and will perhaps get a bit of a sparkle to match the new parade style. With a rumoured 8 float parade coming for the 25th, one can dream we get a float as beautiful as the Mulan float in the parade for Shanghai Disneyland. Too big of a dream for DLP? Perhaps, but all we can do is wait and see.
The next ‘rumour’ made me extremely happy, and this is the news that Forest of Enchantment shall return for another run at the Chaparral Theatre. There will be a few tweeks to the set this time around and by default, it shall be performed in two languages. Whether that be separate performances for French and English or duel language performances like we saw earlier this year.
There is also a new show coming to the castle stage and it will feature the Disney Princesses. I hope it includes all of the Princesses, as some are neglected fare more in Disneyland Paris than in other parks, which makes me sad. I really want to see Mulan represented more in Disneyland Paris. Whether this will happen or not, is both hopeful and doubtful at the same time.
A ‘Happy Birthday Disneyland Paris’ show will be performed on Central Plaza. It is rumoured that it will contain around 20 Disney characters, some of whom will be new to Disneyland Paris. New characters at Disneyland Paris makes me so happy. I do love meeting characters and to get more and possible ‘rare’ characters out more often once again, will be fantastic!
The party will be similar to ‘Move it! Shake it! Celebrate it! Street Party from Magic Kingdom and Goofy’s Garden Party from Swing into Spring at Disneyland Paris. I shall post videos of both shows below.
I loved Goofy’s Garden Party this year when I finally saw it myself in Disneyland Paris, so a similar show to this, for me personally, would be fantastic. In the ED92 article, there is a photograph of the central plaza stage from the 15th anniversary celebrations. I personally liked the stage, and wouldn’t mind it’s return. However, would it work with a show similar to Goofy’s Garden Party? I’m not so sure.
Disney Dreams is the next item on the 25th Anniversary agenda. I saw Dreams for the first time in person this April and it was so emotional for me. Every time I watched it, I felt happy tears well up in my eyes, it made me feel like I was at home once again. I love the current story with Peter Pan and his shadow. I love the songs that have been chosen and the array of different films. I love how they took out the Frozen section and put Brave back in. The whole thing is just perfect in my eyes.
Is a change needed? No, personally I don’t think so, but I can understand fully why they wish to create a new version. Shanghai Disneyland recently opened and they have their own nighttime spectacular, Ignite the Dream!, projected onto the castle. It’s this technology and ideas that will come to Disneyland Paris.
According to rumours, this new version of Dreams will see Mickey ‘Wish Upon A Star’ and take us on a journey through the biggest Disney Studios productions. Personally, I would loved to have seen more classic Disney in the new version of Dreams, instead of Disneys biggest money makers. The point is to celebrate 25 years of the resort, not how much money Disney can make from a movie. Hopefully they prove me wrong and create a fantastic show.
There is rumoured to be a new Pirates of the Caribbean sequence as well as a Star Wars battle. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this. Pirates maybe but I think Star Wars should be left out of it. Sorry guys!
This next rumour is my favourite out of the whole lot – Mickey Mouse waving goodbye and goodnight to all guests as we leave the park. This is absolutely adorable and just gives you that extra bit of magic as you leave the park. Something special to take away with you. I really hope this happens as I love love love this idea so much.
That is the end of the rumours for now. I can’t wait until Disneyland Paris either confirm these rumours or announce completely new and exciting news with regards to the 25th Anniversary celebrations.
I have both my fingers and my toes crossed that I get to return to Disneyland Paris to witness these fantastic rumours and events take place!
