Top 5 Disney Songs That Make Me Cry!

Aloha my wonderful merfolk!

Anyone who knows me well enough will know that I am an absolute emotional wreck; absolutely anything and everything can and will make me cry. Disney is no exception. Actually, I believe that Disney is the thing that makes me cry most of all in life, but happy tears, so it’s all good.

The one thing that hits me most when it comes to Disney movies, is their soundtracks. Nine times out of ten it is a song in a Disney move that has made me cry. The other 10% is a character death. With this in mind, I thought I would share with you my top 5 Disney songs that make me cry!

5. Feed the Birds – Mary Poppins

I was never really sure why this song made me cry. I think it’s because it’s so slow and somber and about a poor old lady who sells bread crumbs in order to earn a tiny bit of money. Not to mention the part where Mr Banks is walking to the Bank, knowing he is probably going to lose his job.  Saving Mr Banks was released and that film just broke me in so many ways. This song was one of Walt Disney’s favourites and I can see why. It’s such a beautiful song and Julie Andrews has such a wonderful voice.

4. Baby Mine – Dumbo

This song always has me bawling; poor little Dumbo. He has his mother taken away from him after she attacks the ring leader for bullying her son. It’s just a super sad scene and a super sad part of the movie so naturally the song matches the mood and has me in tears every time.

3. Touch The Sky – Brave

Okay, this one I have no idea why I cry at it, other than Dreams. It is usually this part of Dreams where the tears start because it’s just so beautiful and I feel so happy and at home. I love Brave, I love that Merida is Scottish and overall I just love this movie.

2. The Second Star To The Right – Peter Pan

This song originally made me cry most because of Dreams at Disneyland Paris which is such a beautiful firework extravaganza however, recently, the song has made me cry due to the loss of a friend. My Disney friend Laura-Lisa passed away earlier this year. I had only met her once, when I was in DLP in April, but I’d spoken to her a lot on Twitter and it was heartbreaking to hear the news. This song now holds a special place in my heart and will always remind me of my little lost girl LL!

1. I See The Light – Tangled

TI never used to like this song. There I said it. When I first saw Tangled, I thought the song was a bit meh, but now I’ve seen Tangled many many times, I adore this song. It hits home with me and I relate to it on some level. I cry at it during Dreams, I got teary eyed during Forest of Enchantment and I can’t sing along without my voice quivering. It’s a beautiful love song made even better bu the beautiful scene in the movie!

  1. Colors of the wind(Pocahontas). Life cycle (lion king), i see the light(tangled), let it go (frozen) All of them almost always make my cry because they’re full of meaning!

  2. When my little girl was about three she was obsessed with Tangled. She would sing that song with her little toddler voice and it just about destroyed me every time. I’m already a bit of a wuss when it comes to my daughter. My wife likes to tease me that she’s gonna make sure that gets played someday when my daughter gets married….
