#Blogoween Day 18: My Top 5 Disney Villains Songs!

Aloha my wonderful merfolk!

Welcome to Blogoween Day #18. If you stayed with me up until this point, then thank you very much!

By now it should be obvious, that I love the Disney villains slightly more than I like the nice, goody-two-shoes style characters. I love a villains dark essence, their dark aesthetic and usually, their voice actors. Most villains have wonderfully evil sounding voice actors don’t they?

One thing that makes a good Disney villain for me, is their song. If they have a good villains number, then I’m all over that! Today, I thought I would share with you my Top 5 Disney Villains Songs!

5. My Lullaby – Zira from The Lion King 2

I’ve always been a fan of The Lion King 2, in fact, it’s my favourite Disney animated sequel. Or at least , my favourite that was a straight to VHS/DVD release. I loved Zira, Luca and Vitani. Kovu too of course. This villains song has always stuck in my mind and I have always enjoyed it.

4. The Worlds Greatest Criminal Mind – Ratigan and gang from The Great Mouse Detective

I have two words that explain exactly why I love this villains song: Vincent Price. Any questions? Nope, thought not.

3. Be Prepared – Scar from The Lion King

I loved this song in the movie and I loved it in the West End too. Jeremy Irons has the perfect villain voice to play Scar. This film was one of my favourites as a child, even if it did emotionally scar me for the rest of my life… no pun intended. Or maybe it was.

2. Poor Unfortunate Souls – Ursula from The Little Mermaid

As The Little Mermaid is my favourite Disney song, I think a lot of people probably thought this would reach the coveted top spot, but no. I adore this song and I adore Ursula as equally. Every time I hear this song, I can’t help but sing along. Ursula is one of those villains that just has the perfect villain voice too.

1. Hellfire – Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame

The music in Hunchback of Notre Dame is chilling and beautiful and this song is no different. It’s not until you are an adult that you realise just how sinister this song actually is. I could listen to this song over and over and always sing along to it like I would do with a power ballad.

Honourable Mentions

Mine, Mine, Mine – Governor Ratcliffe from Pocahontas

Friends on The Other Side – Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog

The Elegant Captain Hook – Captain Hook and the pirates from Peter Pan

What is your favourite Disney Villain song? Is it in my list or honourable mentions?

a mermaid be waiting for you, in mysterious fathoms below

  1. Ah I couldn’t agree more with you on these, especially seeing the likes of My Lullaby and Ratigan’s song on here, they are classics and two of my favourites! Love all of your choices here, and I’ve now got Mine Mine Mine on replay, haha! – Tasha
