The All-Time Toughest Disney Tag Yet!

Aloha my wonderful merfolk!

I was tagged by the lovely Mandy from MandyJeanWorld to do her toughest Disney Tag. I’m looking forward to doing this, although I know it is going to take me forever to choose my answers.

Rules are as follows:
– You can only answer each question with ONE answer. No multiples! For example, if asked who your favourite character is, don’t answer with “Alice and Peter Pan”. You gotta choose ONLY ONE!
– All answers must, of course, be Disney-related, but you can choose items from franchises owned by Disney i.e PIXAR, Star Wars, Marvel etc.
– Once you’re done, copy/paste the questions and tag some friends to challenge them too!
EXTRA CHALLENGE: for extra pressure, time yourself and post the amount of time it took to complete this tag. Something tells me it won’t be quick!

So, without further ado, let’s begin.

Q1. Who is your all-time favourite Disney animator, and why?
I love the style of Glen Keane, purely because he was involved with The Little Mermaid and that is my all time favourite Disney movie.

Q2. What Disney era is your all-time favourite, and why? (i.e Golden Age, Renaissance etc.)
The Renaissance Era. I grew up with this era and watched every movie over and over. Some of my favourite characters are a part of these movies, the music is some of my most favourite Disney music ever and every part of this era makes me incredibly happy.

Q3. If Walt Disney were alive and you were allowed to ask him ONE question, but ONE question only, what would you ask him?
How do you feel about some of the content your company have been creating the last 20 years? I.e: Disney Channel content, straight to DVD sequel releases etc.

Q4. Who is your all-time favourite Disney director, and why?
The Little Mermaid being one of my favourite Disney movies, I have to choose the director of this movie, or rather, the two directors. Is this technically cheating? I mean, Ron Clements and John Musker directed a lot of Disney movies together and they’ve all been fantastic!

Q5. What is your all-time favourite Disney song, and why?
I See The Light has to be my favourite song. Yes it’s from one of the modern Princess movies but this song gets to me like no other song does. Every time I hear this song I tear up and cry. I feel like the lyrics speak to me on some level and I just relate to it so much. It’s a beautiful song and such a beautiful scene.

Q6. If you were forced to erase ONE Disney movie from history, which would you pick, and why?
Chicken Little. I really really really do not like this movie.

Q7. Which Disney Park from around the world is your all-time favourite, and what makes it stand out from the others to you?
Disneyland Paris is the only Disney park I have ever visited so for that reason alone, it holds a very special place in my heart. For me, there are many reasons. Frontierland is my favourite land to visit, The theming is fantastic and the fact ours has an entire story running through it which connects every area of the land is fantastic. I adore Big Thunder Mountain and Phantom Manor. We also have Ratatouille which I believe is unique to our park. Disneyland Paris holds so much magic and I wish people would give it  chance and stop comparing it to every other park.

Q8. You have only 30mins to spend in Disneyland before you’re magically whisked back home by a portal. What do you do with that time?
I would spend it in Frontierland, riding Big Thunder Mountain and Phantom manor and meeting my favourite cowboy and cowgirl.

Q9. You get to choose ONE Disney heroine to join the official line of Disney Princesses. Who do you choose and why?
Esmeralda. I love Hunchback of Notre dame and it’s so sad how it doesn’t get as much love as lot of other Disney movies from the 90s. Esmeralds is beautiful and deserves to be in that line-up.

Q10. Speaking of Disney Princesses… One will need to be demoted from the franchise to replace with the new heroine. Which existing princess would you remove from the franchise, and why?

Elsa because she is a Queen. It’s hardly fair that as a status above the other characters in this line up, she is included. Plus, she’s so popular that being kicked out of the line-up wouldn’t make her less popular at all.

Q11. What is your all-time favourite under-rated Disney movie, and why? (“Under-rated” meaning movies you don’t see or hear about these days… Like, ever.)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I always feel this movie gets passed over and for all the wrong reasons. This movie has some beautiful scenery, it has an absolutely gorgeous soundtrack. I don’t feel like it is represented enough in the parks, especially Disneyland Paris which I think is strange given that the movie is set in Paris.

Q12. Which Disney villain do you feel is the most misunderstood, and why?

Captain Hook. Now, I don’t watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates so I don’t know if any of his back story has been spoken about previously in Disney canon. What I want to know is why he hates Peter Pan so much. Why did Peter cut off his hand and feed it to the crocodile? I understand that Captain Hook is a pirate and usually that automatically makes them the bad guys but hat if he is just misunderstood?

Q13. You can only choose ONE Disney animal to be your pet. Who do you choose, and why?
I’m going to say Pascal. He is such a funny little character that you know, whenever you were feeling down or upset, he would be there to instantly cheer you up.

Q14. Who is the ONE Disney character you can relate to most, and why?
It’s a Disney Pixar character, but Sadness. I have suffered with my mental health for a very long time and overwhelming sadness is one horrendous side effect of this. The way Sadness behaves (being too sad to move etc) is so relateable to me that I adore her character. What made me love her more, is that in the end, it is shown that it’s okay to be sad because on the other side of it, there is joy. We learn from sadness and help ourselves avoid what makes us overwhelmingly sad.

Q15. Finally, the toughest question of all… What is your favourite Disney movie of all time, and why?
The Little Mermaid. I love the characters, I love the music, I love the colours, I love the story. I grew up watching this movie so it played a huge part in my childhood. I would watch it over and over again. I would draw the characters from the movies. I even got some pet fish when I was little because I wanted to have friends like Flounder.

How long did it take you to complete this tag?

I had a break in between answering some of the questions to have lunch but I think this tag took me about half an hour to complete? Maybe fourty minutes? This was a tough tag that really made me think about my answers.

I tag Kim, Lizi and Shawnee to do this super difficult Disney tag!

a mermaid be waiting for you, in mysterious fathoms below

  1. Loved reading your answers, Amy, well done on completing the tag! The Little Mermaid is my all-time favourite too, so like yourself, a lot of my answers ended up being mermaid related, haha! I don’t consider putting John Musker and Ron Clements down together as cheating, because they are a directing team after all, and they rock at what they do together. The Hunchback Of Notre Dame is also one of my faves and I think Esmeralda should absolutely be a princess, royal blood or not! 😃💕

    1. Thank you! Yeah I tried to make my answers not seem too similar to yours by we love all the same things so it was difficult 😂 yes Esmeralda should definitely be a princess even though she’s not of royal blood. Mulan isn’t of royal blood and she’s an official Disney Princess so it’s only fair ☺💜

      1. Haha it’s okay, The Little Mermaid is just too awesome! 😂 I love Mulan as a character, but I don’t understand why she is part of the Princess franchise when Esmeralda, Giselle, Kida, Megara, Jane etc are not. I know it’s partly to do with popularity and, in Giselle’s case, the rights to the resemble the actress, but they’re all got the moral values of traditional princesses that make them perfect role models. Tis’ a shame, but maybe they can have their own Disney Heroine line-up one day! 😃✨

      2. She really is! I think it is because she is a strong female character; she goes to war in place of her father. Even if it is set in a time where women were to be quiet and not speak in front of men etc. I love Mulan, always have. I do think Kida should be a part of the official line up as well, just couldn’t put two answers down haha! I love Atlantis! ❤
