Aloha my wonderful merfolk!
Whenever I go to Disneyland Paris, I love meeting characters. I find it fun, therapeutic and sometimes the interactions you have can leave such positive, lasting memories.
With it being Alice in Wonderland week, I thought I would share with you some of the wonderful experiences I’ve had meeting the characters from the movie.
Swing into Spring
The first time I had ever spoken to a character from Alice in Wonderland was during a performance of Goofy’s Garden Party. I was stood on Central Plaza with my Mam and we were dancing away to the wonderful song. I was wearing my Cheshire Cat Dedicated to DLP badge, which could be seen perfectly as it was so warm I wasn’t wearing my jacket. Alice came skipping around the Plaza, saw my badge and came running over, happily telling me she had noticed the Cheshire Cat.
Following on from this, I stood in the queue in Fantasyland because I wanted to meet the Queen of Hearts. I think I was in the queue for well over an hour as the Queen had two breaks, was joined by Alice and then swapped to be joined with the Mad Hatter. As I got to the front, the Mad hatter came bounding over to say hello and to shake my hand, because that’s manners. I showed him my Cheshire Cat badge and he was very upset that he wasn’t on it. The Queen however was overjoyed to see she had been included in the design.
I then had a rather deep conversation about the Dark Side being in the sky and that would mean Wonderland was the light side and they were underground and down the rabbit hole.
Halloween 2016 had a rare character meet and greet. He was only out for an hour and a half a day and the queues were always super duper long. The character I am talking about is the Cheshire Cat. This was one of my favourite meet and greets purely because I am so lucky to have met him. We got to the Fantasyland rope drop just before 10am, rode Casey Junior and Le Pays des Contes de Fées and then joined the queue about 10:15. We were right near the front of the queue, only three families in front of us. Cheshire Cat came out for his meet and greet at 11:15 and it wasn’t long before I was giving this adorable fuzzy pink cat the biggest of hugs.
Halloween is the best time to meet Villains, which meant I got to meet her majesty again. The Queen of Hearts was a part of the villains show and would do meet and greets after. We stood queuing for three of the shows on the final night of their performances. The Queen picked us out and we had to bow. And bow. And bow. It was quite funny. She did make my friend Joey bow so many more times than me. She must have thought my bow was better. The queen then made us turn around so our backs were to the camera so she was the main focus. Eventually, we got a real photograph with the Queen.
I love meeting the characters from Alice in Wonderland. Hopefully on my next trip, I shall be able to meet more.
